Castiglia is a reference point in the integrated management of waste throughout its life cycle (collection – treatment – transport – disposal) for both public and private bodies.

The constant investments and the state-of-the-art vehicle fleet place Castiglia in a position of absolute prominence in the national logistics sector.

Our flexibility guarantees the transport of any type of material and waste (loose, compacted, liquid, pulverized, in bales, etc.), always giving the highest priority to solutions with greater environmental sustainability (reuse, recycling, energy recovery). Our proprietary storage facility for hazardous and non-hazardous waste also guarantees removal at any time and a high-quality service.

Our fleet is composed of recently registered vehicles of Environment Class EURO 6, which allow us to reduce emissions of CO2 and other pollutants. The fleet has recently been integrated with alternative fuel vehicles (Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG), which guarantee a significant reduction in harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

Castiglia also offers transport services to and from the port of Taranto. Our relationship with international partners in this sector allow us to reach a larger customer portfolio in the world’s main ports.

Waste collection services

Castiglia has consolidated experience in waste handling, collection and transport.
Semi-trailers equipped with mobile platforms, tractors with and without a crane, tanks, roll-off containers approved for the delivery of different types of waste are just some of the vehicles available to offer an efficient collection service.
Thanks to its highly specialized and qualified staff, Castiglia is able to collect both hazardous and non-hazardous waste in any context.
Current clients and activities:

  • Collection service, transport, and delivery of waste produced by the purification of waste water (sieve, sand, and sludge) on behalf of Acquedotto Pugliese S.p.A.;
  • The ELT (end of life tires) collection service for the entire Apulia and Lazio Regions, which Castiglia has been managing since 2013 on behalf of Ecopneus, the non-profit company for tracing, collection, treatment and final destination of End of Life Tires, created by the main tire manufacturers operating in Italy to respond to the requests described in art. 228 of Legislative Decree 152/2006;
  • The collection service, loading, transport, and disposal of various kinds of waste lying on the edges of the provincial roads of Taranto.

Waste management plant

Castiglia has created, in accordance with the Integrated Environmental Authorization cod. 5.3 of the Province of Taranto, 9th SECTOR Ecology and Environment – Protected Areas – Terra Delle Gravine Natural Park, with Executive Decision No. 72 of 07/09/2012 and No. 15 of 03/17/2016, a plant for the management of any kind of waste, both liquid or solid, hazardous or not. Castiglia has thus optimized the services, structures and skills made available to its clients.

These services include the storage, selection, recovery, volumetric reduction, and mixing of special hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

Management of transfer stations and mechanical biological treatment (MBT) systems

Castiglia’s technical skills allow us not only to guarantee services such as the collection and transport of waste but also to manage transfer centers and Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plants.

Castiglia currently manages the non-hazardous solid waste transfer service from the plants of IREN S.p.A. Group in the Provinces of Turin, Parma and Piacenza, for more than 300,000 tons per year. In addition to the waste transport service, we also manage the Transfer Center via Germagnano in Turin and the plastics recovery plant in Collegno.

MBT plants exploit mechanical and biological processes such as anaerobic digestion to achieve stabilization and consecutive volumetric reduction in the treatment of undifferentiated waste. An example of how the company currently manages the ordinary, and extraordinary maintenance of MBT plants are those owned by Amiu Puglia S.p.A. in Bari and Foggia.

Ordinary and extraordinary maintenance mainly concern:

  • Mechanical components;
  • Electromechanical components;
  • Electrical components;
  • Controls on automation systems;
  • Checks on civil infrastructures, including technological networks.
